Cinema owners association bans films with Pak artistes

Mumbai, Oct 14 : Amid growing demand for a ban on Pakistani artistes, Cinema Owners Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI) on Friday decided not to release movies starring actors from Pakistan in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Goa.

This announcement puts an uncertainty on the release of Karan Johar's "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil", which sees Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in a supporting role and is slated to arrive in theatres this Diwali.

Addressing the media, COEAI's president Nitin Datar said that the decision was not taken under any political pressure, but rather, keeping public sentiment in mind.

"Today, the meeting of Cinema Owners Exhibitors Association of India took place and it was decided that keeping in mind the patriotic feelings and the national interest of our country, we request all our members and exhibitors to refrain from screening movies which have involvement of any Pakistani artist, technicians, directors, music directors etc," Datar said.

Mumbai, Oct 11: Fourth National Award this year and commercial success and critical acclaim for "Pink", Amitabh Bachchan has reasons enough to celebrate his birthday in a big way but as the megastar of Hindi cinema turns 74 on Tuesday, he seems to have no special plans to ring in the day.

According to sources, he will have a low-key celebration with family.

Paris revisits father Michael Jackson's house

London:Paris Jackson has visited her home at Neverland Ranch, where she used to live with her musician-father, Michael Jackson.

The 18-year-old daughter of the late pop star shared a picture of the large mansion on Instagram, saying she felt really happy after visiting the place, reported Femalefirst.

"Felt so good to be home even for a little bit," she wrote.

"Spoke to Lata (Mangeshkar) Didi and conveyed birthday greetings to her. I pray for her long and healthy life," Modi tweeted.


Marilyn Monroe''s mink stole to be auctioned

London:Actress Marilyn Monroe's mink stole which she wore in 1949 film "Love Happy" is set for an auction, with bidding starting at USD 20,000.

The fashion accessory worn by the late actress in the final Marx Brothers film will be auctioned by Nate D Sanders Auctions in Los Angeles tomorrow, reported Female First.

The Hollywood icon passed away aged 36 in 1962 from a barbiturate overdose in Los Angeles. Her walk-on role in the "Love Happy" came before her big breakthrough.

In the film, Monroe was seen holding the mink stole as she walked past Groucho Marx with the intention of catching his attention.

"Film industry earnings may reach $ 3.7bn by '20"

Hyderabad: The gross box office realisations of Indian film industry are expected to reach USD 3.7 billion by 2020, according to Deloitte Indywood Indian Film Industry Report.

As per December 2015 the gross box office realisation was USD 2.1 billion.

"The Indian film industry is the largest in the world in terms of number of films produced with around 1,500 to 2,000 films produced every year in more than 20 languages.

In terms of revenue, the industry has gross box office realisations of USD 2.1 billion which is expected to grow at 11 per cent CAGR reaching USD 3.7 billion by 2020," the report said.

Lata Mangeshkar to be conferred Bengal's Bangabibhushan award

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar will be conferred the "Bangabibhushan" award by the West Bengal government in recognition of her contribution to Bengali songs, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said here on Saturday.

"Lata Mangeshkar has sung a large number of memorable Bengali songs. In order to honour her contribution, we have decided to bestow the Bangabibhushan award to her this year," Banerjee told media persons at the state secretariat Nabanna.

FIPB to take up 15 foreign investment proposals

New Delhi:FIPB will decide on 15 foreign investment proposals, including that of Idea Cellular Infrastructure Services and Sharekhan, on September 26.

The 240th meeting of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) to be chaired by Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das will have 15 items on the agenda.

People calling India land of rapes embarrassing: Bachchan

New Delhi: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan says he feels embarrassed when he goes abroad and people there call India, the land of rapes.

The actor, who is essaying the role of a lawyer in his latest release "Pink," said Indians should work together to make the country a first world nation.

"It's very embarrassing when we visit abroad and people there say, 'You are from India, the land of rapes'. I want that to go. I don't like it when people call us a third world country or developing country.

Director opens up about leaked sex scenes in 'Parched'

Director Leena Yadav has opened about leaked intimate scenes between Radhika Apte and Adil Hussain in her forthcoming movie "Parched".

"People have a tendency to sensationalise things... I think it should be stopped now. By exaggerating it, we are giving much importance to these things. I didn't say anything so far as it would be against the film that I've made," said Yadav at the trailer launch of the film.

Kapil Sharma kicks up row with bribe allegation

Mumbai, Sep 9 :) Popular stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma today stoked a controversy by alleging that he had been asked to pay a bribe of Rs 5 lakh by an official of the civic body BMC which, in turn, claimed that the actor had carried out "illegal construction" at his office for which a notice had been served on him two months back.

Kapil levelled the allegation in the morning in tweets in which he tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning if this was the "achche din" (good days) he had promised.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was quick to respond to Sharma's angst and assured him that strict action would be taken against the culprit.

Haryanvi-style surprise for Sophie Choudry

Mumbai, Sep 4:With the 10-day Ganpati festival commencing from tomorrow, several actors including Emraan Hashmi and Arjun Rampal are preparing to welcome home the God of good luck, while stars like Katrina Kaif and Daisy Shah will visit friends' places to offer prayers.
