"They are dreaming. It is a fictitious dream, which will never come true," she said.
Recalling the Congress' contribution to the Indian freedom struggle, Kumar said the grand old party has played a vital role in the country's social freedom and constantly worked towards the upliftment of poor and down-trodden.
"I wouldn't say it is in bad shape. It (Congress) is a very old and historic party. The Congress played an extremely important role in the country's freedom. Not only political freedom and freedom from the British, it also played a vital role in social freedom. There were many, who were oppressed and exploited, the Congress played a major role in their upliftment," she said when asked about the Congress' dismal performance in the recent assembly polls.
Asserting that winning and losing are a part of electoral process, she said that the Congress was sticking to its principles to rid the country of poverty and social inequality.
"The Congress can never be weak. There is a system of elections in the nation, sometimes result favours one and sometimes it favours others. There are lot of parties and sometimes they win sometimes they lose. Sometimes they get only two seats in Parliament and sometimes it increases. So, we cannot say Congress is weak as long as it adheres to its principles," she added.
In the recent West Bengal Assembly polls, the Congress, in alliance with the left, could manage just 74 seats out of the 294 seats in the assembly.
In Assam, it could just win 26 out of the 126 seat assembly, thereby, losing the throne after a decade long rule.
