Hyderabad Court to hear Kingfisher cheque bounce case today

A Hyderabad court will hear the Kingfisher cheque bounce case on Tuesday.

Earlier on June 6, the court had adjourned the hearing till today.

The court was hearing the petition against liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who was convicted in two cheque bounce cases filed against him by the GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd.

The court asked the GMR to submit fresh address of accused and the company.

Delhi court dismisses complaint seeking FIR against SRK, Salman

A Delhi Court on Monday dismissed a criminal complaint filed against Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by entering the sets of a temple wearing shoes while shooting for reality show 'Bigg Boss 9'.

The Tis Hazari court, however, allowed the complainant to produce pre-summoning evidence on October 14.

In an Action Taken Report (ATR), the police had earlier said that Shah Rukh and Salman were shooting at a makeshift temple, which was part of the sets in a studio for the reality show and had no intention to hurt religious sentiments.

The report was filed following court's order on the complaint lodged by advocate Gaurav Gulati who sought registration of an FIR against the two actors, Colors channel and director and producer of 'Bigg Boss 9' for alleged offences under sections 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), 298(uttering words with deliberate intent to wound religious feelings) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The complaint alleged that in a video being circulated, Shah Rukh and Salman were seen wearing shoes on the sets of the temple while shooting for an episode of ' Bigg Boss 9' where the idol can be seen in the background.

The complaint against the two actors was filed in the Roop Nagar Police Station in the national capital.

PIL against Bollywood movie 'Shorgul'

A petition seeking stay on the release on Bollywood movie 'Shorgul' was today filed before the Allahabad High Court bench here alleging certain scenes in it threatened to disturb social harmony.

The PIL was filed by a Meerut social worker Milan Som who sought a stay on the movie scheduled to be released on June 24.

According to petitioner's counsel Digvijay Nath Dubey, certain scenes in the film were highly objectionable and threatened to disturb social harmony.

The movie, featuring Jimmy Shergill and Ashutosh Rana in lead roles, is based on friendship between a Hindu boy and a Muslim girl that snowballs into a political issue leading to unrest and chaos in society.

'Shorgul' has been shot in the backdrop of Muzaffarnagar communal riots in Uttar Pradesh in 2014.

Gulbarg massacre verdict: 24 convicted, 36 acquitted by special court

A special SIT court on Thursday convicted 24 out of the 66 accused in the 2002 Gulbarg society communal riots and acquitted 36 accused.

According to reports, 11 out of the 24 have been convicted for murder and 13 for other charges.

Special Court judge PB Desai delivered the judgment eight months after the trial concluded on September 22, last year.

Bipin Patel, a sitting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator, who was also the corporator in 2002 when the massacre happened and won the election for fourth consecutive term last year, has been reportedly acquitted.

Sexual assault: 'Judges not to disclose victims name'

Judicial officers should not mention the name of victims in the judgements passed in sexual assault cases and they "must avoid" disclosing the identity to protect their reputation, the Delhi High Court has said.

Justice S P Garg said this while noting that a magistrate as well as district and sessions judge had mentioned the name of victim in their orders in a molestation case.

"Before parting with the case, it is noted that in the judgement dated October 21, 2013, name of the prosecutrix/ victim has been disclosed/mentioned. The trial court was not expected to indicate the victim's name in the judgement," the court said.

Bihar road rage case: Accused Teni Yadav's bail plea rejected

A Special Judicial Magistrate Court on Friday rejected the bail plea of Teni Yadav, who is named in the FIR of the Aditya Sachdeva murder case.

Teni, who is a cousin of Rocky the main accused, surrendered before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate-IV Om Sagar who remanded him to 14 days judicial custody last week.

Teni was allegedly travelling in the SUV with Rocky and bodyguard Rajesh Kumar, when Aditya was shot dead near police lines under Rampur police station area after Rocky's vehicle was overtaken by the car in which Aditya and his friends were sitting.

Another Babbar Khalsa 'member' sent to police custody till May 30

The Ludhiana district courts on Thursday sent alleged Babbar Khalsa International member Mandeep Singh in police custody till May 30.

The Ludhiana Rural Police had yesterday arrested the accused from his residence at Chak Kalan village near Mullanpur.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Mandeep Singh said the accused has links with Babbar Khalsa, adding his track record is being scanned to get more details.

The arrested accused was in touch with Babbar Khalsa militants in Canada and was planning something big in Punjab.

Punjabi pop singer Daler Mehndi appears before court

Punjabi pop singer Daler Mehndi, who had landed in trouble following allegations of running an illegal immigration scandal in 2003, today appeared before a court here in in connection with the human trafficking case.

The singer appeared before the Court of Judicial Magistrate Sukhwinder Singh, who fixed July 1 as the next date of hearing in the case.

Daler and his brother, Shamsher Singh, had been accused of illegally sending people abroad disguised as members of his troupe by charging hefty "passage money."

Manorama Devi's bail plea postponed

The hearing on the bail plea of suspended JDU MLC Manorama Devi in the Gaya sessions court has been postponed and next date of hearing is yet to be decided.

Gaya sessions court has asked for case diary and local case report from the police.

Dev, who is accused of violating prohibition law, was last week sent to 14-day judicial custody.

She, however, blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for falsely implicating her under political conspiracy.

Delhi Court dismisses complaint against Kejriwal for alleged 'thulla' remark

A Delhi Court today dismissed a complaint seeking prosecution of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly referring to the policemen as 'thulla'.

Delhi Police constable Harvinder Singh had in July last year filed a criminal defamation case in Saket court against Kejriwal for describing cops as ' thulla'.

The constable claimed that he felt insulted by Kejriwal's remark.

The complaint further said that Kejriwal has intentionally insulted the entire police force of the national capital.

The court had on May 7 summoned Kejriwal to appear before it on July 14.

Minor rape case: St. Cruz MLA gets conditional bail

A Goa court on Wednesday granted conditional bail to former Congress leader and St. Cruz MLA Atanasio Monserrate, who has been accused of raping a minor girl.

The bail was granted on a surety of Rs. one lakh and on condition that the MLA would appear before the crime branch for seven days.

The court has also granted bail to two other accused - the mother of the girl and her alleged accomplice - in connection with this case. The police had earlier this month arrested the girl's mother on charges of trafficking.

Malegaon blast: Sadhvi Pragya gets clean chit in NIA chargesheet

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday filed a chargesheet in a special NIA court in connection with the 2008 Malegaon bomb blasts case.

In the chargesheet, the NIA has decided to drop Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur's name as an accused.

"The chargesheet has been filed. We are about to get the copies. They have recommended to discharge four people, including Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur," defence lawyer Sanjeev Punalekar said.

Hearing in Kingfisher cheque bounce case adjourned for May 25

 A Hyderabad sessions court on Monday adjourned the hearing of Kingfisher cheque bounce case for May 25 on the quantum of sentence for liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who was convicted in two cheque bounce cases filed against him by the GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd.

Referring to the Andhra Pradesh High Court's earlier orders, the sessions court said that the accused should be heard before the judgment is passed.

Delhi cop accused of abetting suicide granted bail

The Tis Hazari Court on Saturday granted bail to former Station House Officer (SHO) Dinesh Kumar, who is accused of abetting a young woman for suicide.

The Delhi Police had sacked Kumar, who was posted as the SHO at Vijay Vihar Police Station in outer Delhi within few hours of his arrest in a case of abetment of suicide.

Kumar was arrested under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC.

As per reports, the woman who allegedly hanged herself at her residence in Sabzi Mandi area had left behind a suicide note alleging Kumar made her take the extreme step. A probe into the matter was initiated and later a case was registered.

It is reported that ex-inspector Kumar had called the victim 239 times and had also videographed her when she visited the police station.

Court restrains in-laws from throwing out daughter-in-law

 A man's parents and other family members have been restrained from throwing out his wife from her shared matrimonial house by a Delhi court.

The court dismissed an appeal filed by the man's parents, brother and sister-in-law and said that the woman was entitled to peaceful possession of a room in the matrimonial home here.

Good health is fundamental right: Court

 "Good health is a justiciable fundamental right", a Delhi court has said while observing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious project for health insurance cover for everyone would bring about an "evolution" in India's health insurance model.

The court's observations came while pulling up the United India Insurance Company Ltd, a Public Sector Unit (PSU), for rejecting the mediclaim of a person for heart ailment on the ground of genetic disease exclusion clause.

Coal block case: Court orders framing of charges against Naveen Jindal, 14 others

A special court on Friday ordered framing of charges against ex-member of parliament (MP) Naveen Jindal, former minister of state for coal Dasari Narayan Rao and 13 others for criminal conspiracy, cheating and other offences in a coal block allocation scam case.

The court, however, said that charges would be formally framed against the accused later on.

Bihar court denies bail to seven held for drinking

A Bihar court on Friday refused bail to seven businessmen arrested on the charge of consuming alcohol in a posh hotel here despite the liquor ban in the state, a government lawyer said.

The Patna district civil court dismissed the bail pleas of the arrested businessmen, including three from Gujarat, and remanded them in 14-day judicial custody.

Police said the accused were consuming liquor when a raid was conducted at the hotel two days ago. Their medical examination confirmed the charge.

Those arrested told the police that they were unaware of the liquor ban in Bihar and had purchased liquor from Mumbai.

More than 900 people have been arrested in Bihar since a complete liquor ban was imposed on April 5.

California Court: Britney Spears was a drug abuser

California Court of Appeals said that Britney Spears not only had mental issues that landed her in a psych ward but also was a drug abuser.

A new legal documents filed by the 34-year-old pop-star's own team include a 2015 decision by the appeals court which lays out her struggles back in 2007 - 2008 in graphic detail, reports TMZ.com.

The trigger for the new documents is an impending deposition in a case that squares the 'Womanizer' singer against her former friend and manager Sam Lutfi.

Lutfi's team is about to take Spear's deposition, and her people filed a motion to keep him out of the room.

The Court of Appeals chronicled the drama between the two and judges say when they met in 2007 her life was in turmoil. She was involved in a divorce, a custody battle and estranged from her parents.

"In addition, she was struggling with drug abuse," added the judge.

Bombay HC judge to hear Pratyusha' last telephonic call with Rahul

 Justice Mridula Bhatkar of the Bombay High Court, during today's hearing on actress Pratyusha Banerjee death case, has decided to hear three-minute recording of her last call with Rahul Raj Singh.

The public prosecutor claimed that the late actress hinted her suicide during her last call with beau Rahul.

According to a leading daily's report, the 'Balika Vadhu' actress was under the influence of alcohol while committing suicide.

This new development came into the picture after the Bangur Nagar police station on Friday received the forensic chemical analysis by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Kalina.

Reportedly, the 24-year-old actress was in debt and used to often remain under the influence of alcohol.

An FIR was registered against the producer-actor, who was in a live-in relationship with Banerjee after her mother, Soma alleged that Singh had abetted and instigated the suicide.

On April 1, Pratyusha, who shot to fame for her role as Anandi in 'Balika Vadhu', allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself inside her flat in suburban Goregaon.

Two days later, a case under IPC Sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 504, 506 (criminal intimidation), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of IPC was registered against Rahul following a complaint lodged by the actress's parents.
