Rs 200 cr fund for second, third phase of Agra Ring Road

The Uttar Pradesh government has made a provision of Rs 200 crore for the second and third phase of construction works pertaining to Agra's Ring Road, an official said on Saturday.

The inner ring roads would be constructed from Agra-Fatehabad to Agra-Gwalior Road.

Whatsapp stalker nabbed, accused of sending obscene messages to over 1500 women

 Delhi Police have arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly sending obscene Whatsapp messages to over 1500 women across the national capital.

The accused, Mohammed Khalid, used to send inappropriate messages using SMS service or Whatsapp. According to police sources, Kahlid used several mobile phones to sent messages, police claim that the phones have been recovered.

Yavatmal molestation: School Committee chairman sent to police custody

Yavatmal (Maharashtra), July 4 (ANI): Kishore Darda, the chairman of Yavatmal Public School Committee, which runs the Yavatmal Public School, was on Monday sent to one-day police custody on charges of negligence following reports of alleged molestation of girl students by two teachers.

Darda was arrested from Nagpur in the early morning hours today following violent protests by the parents of a few girl students against the alleged molestation of their wards by two teachers - Yash Borundia and Amol Shirsagar.

Swathi murder case: Prime accused Ramkumar to be brought before court today

 In Tamil Nadu, the prime accused Ramkumar in the software engineer Swathi murder case will be brought before Chennai Egmore court today.

Ramkumar was taken to Chennai from Tirunelveli yesterday in an ambulance after doctors gave the permission to travel.

Swathi, a young engineer working in private IT company was murdered at Nungambakkam railway station on 24th of June.

Nellai District Magistrate Ramadas took the statement from Ramkumar and doctors gave the go ahead for travel.

Fake call centre busted; five arrested

Five persons were arrested for running a fake call centre from Kaushambi area, which allegedly used to lure people by offering installation of mobile towers and ATMs on their property promising lucrative rent.

Acting on a tip-off, police yesterday raided the "call centre" and arrested the five accused. It also seized eight mobile phones, 20 landlines, three laptops and a car from their possession.

According to police officials, the gang has cheated over 24 people of several lakhs of rupees on the pretext of paying them hefty rent after installing mobile towers and ATMs on their property.

Police said the arrested have been identified as Lakhan, Som Dutt, Amit, Sunil and Rahul.

"We are contacting the victims to know the amount cheated from them by the accused," SHO of Indira Puram police station, Gorakh Nath Yadav said.

Australian woman to face kidnapping charges in Lebanon

An Australian woman is set to face kidnapping charges in Lebanon following a botched child recovery operation with a television network.

Sally Faulkner and those hired to carry out the child recovery mission face kidnapping charges and up to seven years in jail, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) reported on Friday.


The crew of "60 Minutes", a flagship news programme for Australia's Nine Network, who were filming the story in Lebanon will escape the saga with only a fine, Xinhua news agency reported.

Faulkner and the "60 Minutes" crew returned to Australia in April after the Nine Network secured their release.

Pak actor Nadeem Jafri shot in Karachi, sustains injuries

 Prominent Pakistani actor and musician Nadeem Jafri on Thursday sustained injuries after being attacked by suspected robbers in Karachi.

The incident took place when the robbers opened fire at Jafri in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of the city, the Express Tribune reports.

Television actor and host Fakhr-e-Alam took to Twitter to report about the incident, saying the 'Wrong No' actor received multiple bullet wounds in an alleged robbery incident outside his house at sehri time.

Jisha murder case: Kerala Chief Minister hints at breakthrough

Kerala Police has "the suspect" in the murder of law student Jisha in its custody, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said here on Thursday, suggesting a major breakthrough.

"This is certainly going to be a feather in the cap of the police probe team," Vijayan told reporters about the investigation into what appeared to be a case of rape and brutal murder of the 27-year-old Dalit woman.

While police is tight-lipped about the investigation, sources in the know said an Assamese youth and four of his friends have been arrested for the crime.

CBI files chargesheet against 10 in two Vyapam cases

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday filed two separate chargesheets in Indore and Bhopal courts against 10 people in two cases related to Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh, officials said.
The chargesheet in the first case named only one person while the other chargesheet in the second case mentioned names of nine accused persons for their alleged involvement in the Pre-Medical Test (PMT) 2009 and the Police Constable Recruitment Test 2012, respectively.

Railway Inspector arrested with illicit liquor in Reasi

An Inspector of the railway department was arrested and over 60 pouches of illicit liquor was seized from his possession in the Katra area of Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, a Government Railway Police (GRP) official said.

Arun Kumar, working as Inspector in the operation and freight wing of the railway department in Katra, was arrested yesterday when Railway Police conducted a raid at his office and seized 62 pouches of illicit liquor, the official said.

TN teacher arrested for meting out barbaric punishment to students

A primary school teacher in Tamil Nadu's Villupuram district has been arrested, for allegedly placing burning camphor on the feet of students of classes IV and V as punishment for poor academic performance.

A local court has sent the teacher, Vyjayantimala, to judicial custody till June 24.

According to reports, she had allegedly placed camphor on the feet of 15 students and set fire to it as a punishment on Thursday after the children were found to be inattentive in the classroom.

Railway TC arrested for raping passenger

The Ghaziabad Railway Police (GRP) have arrested a railway ticket collector (TC) for raping a 20-year-old woman passenger on May 29 on the moving Ala Hazrat Express.

GRP Inspector Pankaj Lawania said TC Ravi Meena, who was returning from Rampur to his home in Jaipur after discharging his duty, raped a woman passenger when he found her travelling without a ticket in the general coach of the train.

The victim on reaching Jaipur, complained to her husband about the rape. The husband took her to Jaipur GRP police station and lodged a complaint. The GRP, after registering the case, referred the case to Ghaziabad where the GRP police arrested the culprit from Jaipur and produced him before a local court. He was sent to Dasna jail under judicial custody.

In her complaint, the woman stated that she left her parental house in Bareilly in a fit of anger, so did not carry any money with her. She boarded the general compartment where the TC, who identified himself as Ravi Meena, asked for the ticket.

"When I did not produce the ticket and told him that I did not have the ticket, he took me to an AC Second Class compartment and raped me twice. He threatened to book me under a case of travelling without ticket andtold me that he would send me to jail if I tell about the rape. So I kept mum. After reaching home, I told the entire story to my husband who took me to the police station to lodge the complaint."

"The TC has been arrested," added GRP Inspector Lawania.

Kidney racket busted in capital, six caught

The Delhi Police on Friday, busted a kidney racket gang operating in a leading private hospital in the national capital, which allegedly used to deal with the transplantation of the organ.

According to the sources, the police have arrested five people and have detained one in this regard.

The Delhi Police have registered a case in Sarita Vihar station in this regard.

The gang also includes two women and two clerical staff from the hospital.

The staff present in the private hospital used to inform Asim, (who is allegedly the mastermind of the gang) about the need of kidney by the patients.

Asim, then used to find donors who could give the kidneys to needful patients and in exchange, huge amounts of money would be given to donors and the gang would get a cut from the profits.

The police have arrested Asim and are also questioning the doctors of the hospital in this regard.

Nigerian rape accused was earlier booked twice

A Nigerian national, arrested for allegedly raping a 31-year-old woman in Goa last week, had been booked earlier for rioting, assault and illegally over-staying in India, police sources said.

Kenneth Upwegdha, 41, was arrested on Monday at the Panvel railway station near Mumbai and on Tuesday was remanded to police custody for three days by a trial court.

"Kenneth was arrested for rioting and blocking the National Highway in Goa in 2013. Our records also showed that he was booked at the Calangute police station in 2012 for illegally overstaying beyond his stipulated visa duration," police sources said.

Meat found at Dadri lynching victim's home was of 'cow or its progeny', says forensic report

The meat found at the home of Mohammed Akhlaq, who was lynched by a mob in Dadri last year in September, is found to be 'beef', confirmed a report by Forensic Investigation Lab at Mathura.
Fifty-two-year-old Akhlaq and his son Danish were attacked by a mob at Bisada village in Dadri over rumours that they had slaughtered a cow in September last year.

In the final result section of the report, signed by the Joint Director of the Forensic investigation Laboratory, Mathura, states, "On the basis of chemical analysis the sample belongs to cow or its progeny".

The incident had sparked a nationwide debate over intolerance, with the opposition parties launching a full-fledged attack on the ruling government over the alleged growing intolerance in the country.

According to reports, the incident left the people shocked after a local veterinarian said that the flesh appears like mutton.

Following this, the police sent a sample of the meat from Akhlaq's home to a Mathura laboratory for forensic tests to check if it was beef.

BJP leader arrested for alleged molestation on flight

Sardarnagar police here today arrested a Gandhinagar-based BJP leader for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old girl on board a Goa-Ahmedabad flight of IndiGo Airlines on May 29.

Ashok Makwana, the accused, is a labour contractor.

Based on a complaint filed by the girl's parents, police today arrested the 41-year-old Makwana, said inspector V R Patel of Sardarnagar police station.

MP: Liquor mafia attacks police, journalists

The liquor mafia yesterday attacked the police and media personnel in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh and two people have been arrested, while six remain absconding.

According to reports, a local resident named Shiv Kumar who raised his voice against the sale of ill-legal liquor in his neighbourhood was kidnapped by the liquor Mafia at gun point.

Later on, the media got to know about the kidnapping and went to cover the incident, where the liquor mafia belligerently attacked them with stones, sticks and swords.

The locals informed the police which rushed to the spot but the liquor mafia unafraid of the cops attacked them too.

In the spat few media and police personnel have suffered serious injuries.

The police has booked the culprits under section 307 of IPC.

पिता के दुष्कर्म से बेटी गर्भवती, कोर्ट ने दी गर्भपात की अनुमति

मध्यप्रदेश में खरगोन जिले के बड़वाह में रिश्ते को तार-तार कर देने वाला एक मामला सामने आया है। यहां एक पिता ने अपनी ही नाबालिग 16 वर्षीय बेटी के साथ दुष्कर्म कर बाप-बेटी के रिश्ते को तार-तार कर दिया। पिता के दुष्कर्म से बेटी गर्भवती हो गई। इसका पता जब घरवालों को चला तो उन्होंने गर्भपात के लिए कोर्ट से अनुमति मांगी और हाईकोर्ट ने उन्हें गर्भपात कराने की ईजाजत दे दी है।
परिवार वालों का आरोप है कि लडक़ी का पिता सालों से उसका दुष्कर्म कर रहा था, जिससे वह गर्भवती हो गई। परिजनों को जब इसकी खबर लगी तो उन्होंने हाईकोर्ट में याचिका दायर कर गर्भपात की अनुमति मांगी।
जानकारी के मुताबिक, नाबालिग लडक़ी काफी समय से परेशान दिख रही थी और जब उसके ताऊ ने लडक़ी से पूछताछ की तो उसने अपने पिता के कुकृत्यों के बारे में उन्हें जो जानकारी दी, उससे उनके होश उड़ गए । नाबालिग होने से किशोरी का गर्भपात नहीं हो सका, इसलिए ताऊ ने भतीजी के गर्भपात के लिए एडवोकेट निलेश दवे के माध्यम से हाई कोर्ट में याचिका दायर की। जस्टिस पीके जायसवाल की वेकेशनल बेंच ने याचिका स्वीकारते हुए गर्भपात की अनुमति दी।
किशोरी को उसकी मां दो साल की उम्र में ही छोड़ गई थी, जिसके बाद से वह पिता के पास है। पीडि़ता के ताऊ के अनुसार किशोरी को 22 सप्ताह से ज्यादा का गर्भ है।

CBI arrests Under Secretary NCERT for accepting bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested Under Secretary of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) Hari Ram for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 15, 000 from the complainant.

A case was registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, on allegations that the Under Secretary was demanding a bribe of Rs. 50,000/- from the complainant for disposing a complaint in his favour, which was pending against him.

Consequent to verification of the complaint, the CBI laid a trap and caught the Under Secretary red-handed while demanding and accepting the negotiated bribe of Rs. 15, 000 from the complainant.

Searches are being conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused.
