The late 57-year-old singer's representative released a statement saying, "It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57. There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time," reports E! Online.
The 80s pop queen from Glasgow, Sheena Easton, once famously romantically linked with the global superstar, said, "It is impossible to imagine him not being here.
The world of music was forever changed the day he picked up his guitar. His talent was breathtaking, his heart was kind, and all of us have been blessed to have had a glimpse into this sweet and magical soul."
MTV music network said in a statement said, "MTV is heartbroken and in utter disbelief at the news that the world has lost Prince Rogers Nelson so suddenly and so before his time. Prince was a once-in-a-lifetime artist who transcended every medium and genre he touched and created music with a passion and individuality that inspired multiple generations. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family, friends and millions of fans."
Shortly after news of Prince's demise became public, stars including Demi Lovato, Justin Timberlake, Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey and many others took to their Twitter handles to shower their tribute to the music legend.

"This fucking sucks... Prince on repeat all day. Just like I did with Michael and Whitney," she added.
