Harika at fifth spot in world chess rankings

 Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad, Oct 11 : After a commanding performance in the recently concluded Isle of Man international chess tournament, Indias Grand Master Harika Dronavalli broke back into the top five in the world chess rankings.

 This is the second time during this year that Harika has scaled to the top five, soaring on a series of wins in international tournaments.

Harika not only finished with 5.5 points in the Isle of Man tournament that saw some of the best chess players in action but also emerged as one of the top woman players at the event.

खंडवा में इंदिरासागर के बैकवाटर से सटे छाल्पीखुर्द गांव के किसानों का दर्द

इंदिरासागर के बैकवॉटर में डूबा छाल्पीखुर्द गांव का दो किमी लंबा रास्ता। खड़ी फसल की कटाई और ढुलाई के
लिए खेतों में जाना भी जरूरी। करीब 4 से 5 फीट गहरे और जोखिमभरे बैकवॉटर से गुजरने के लिए कोई साधन भी नहीं, तो ऐसे में भैंस और बैलों की पूंछ ही सही। यह नियति बन गई है इस गांव के किसानों की।
क्योंकि खेतों तक पहुंचने के लिए यही एकमात्र रास्ता है। किसान कहते हैं बैकवॉटर के डर से खेती करना छोड़ तो दे तो भूखों मरने की नौबत आ जाए। पांच साल से रास्ता ऊंचा करने और खेतों की जमीन को डूब
में शामिल कर मुआवजे की मांग कर रहे हैं, लेकिन सुनवाई अब तक नहीं हुई।

Defamation case: Arrest warrant issued against Uma Bharti

Bhopal:A non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against Union Minister Uma Bharti by a local court today for not appearing before it in connection with a 13-year-old defamation case filed against her by Congress leader Digvijaya Singh.

Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Bhubhaskar Yadav said senior police officers should execute the arrest warrant, while dismissing the Union Water Resources Minister's application, moved by her lawyer Harish Mehta, seeking exemption from appearance during court hearing today due to an important engagement.

Mehta pleaded that his client be exempted from the hearing on ground that she was engaged in a meeting regarding the Cauvery water dispute between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in view of Supreme Court's order.

Shivraj Singh meets UK minister Priti Patel

London: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today met UK international development minister Priti Patel here for talks on Britain's collaboration with the state on many projects, including the development of three smart cities.

Chouhan is leading a delegation of government officials from the commerce, industry, investment and employment departments to the UK on the invitation of Patel, who had visited Bhopal last month.

"The UK has a long and special relationship with Madhya Pradesh. It is a relationship based on solid foundations and a shared history that has a bright future as our partnership moves forward," Patel said.

Parties wary of free, fair polls in UP: CEC

.Chief Election Commissioner Naseem Zaidi on Tuesday said political parties in Uttar Pradesh were wary about free and fair assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference on the last day of his three-day visit to Lucknow, he said he had discussed the issue with police officials.

Cong loses govt in Arunachal to a BJP front

Itanagar: The Congress today lost its government in Arunachal Pradesh to a BJP-led front when 43 of its MLAs led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu defected wholesale and merged with the People's Party of Arunachal, just two months after it had regained power.

Khandu, who had replaced Nabam Tuki following a dissident campaign in July, paraded 42 MLAs before Assembly Speaker Tenzing Norbu Thongdok, who accepted their joining the PPA, Assembly sources said.

'Felt bad' after being removed as UP SP chief: CM Akhilesh

Lucknow:Locked in a turf battle with his uncle Shivpal Yadav, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today laid bare his angst, saying he "felt bad" after being removed as Samajwadi Party state president and demanded that he be given a say in ticket distribution for the 2017 Assembly election.

Akhilesh said he has rejected the resignation of Shivpal and he will comply with his father and party supremo Mulayam Singh's Yadav direction to reinduct sacked Mining Minister Gayatri Prajapati, adding that "Netaji will find a solution (to the current crisis) and everyone will accept it".

Maha govt hikes VAT on petrol by Rs 1.50 per litre

Mumbai:Maharashtra government today hiked the value added tax (VAT) levied on petrol by Rs 1.50 per litre.

The measure is expected to generate additional revenue of Rs 600 crore, a senior official said.

The state has not touched diesel prices, fearing losing revenue to neighbouring states, he added.

"The decision is taken to garner additional revenue.

AAP govt's new education reform plan under HC scanner

New Delhi:The Delhi High Court has sought AAP government's reply to a plea challenging its new education reform plan 'Chunauti 2018' which seeks to check dropout rate of students and improve education quality with special focus on the weaker students.

Under 'Chunauti 2018' scheme, students would be mapped and the weaker students would be given "special focus" to enhance learning levels from classes 6 to 9.

Govt mulling to build memorial for Sant Kabir in UP

New Delhi: The government is planning to build a memorial for Sant Kabir in Uttar Pradesh, in an attempt to woo a large number of followers of the mystic poet ahead of assembly elections in the state.

The memorial may be set up either at Kabir Churaha in Varanasi, which is the Parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, or Maghar where the body of the Sant rests, a source said.

SP will return to power on basis of development: Akhilesh

Lucknow:Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today claimed that Samajwadi Party will return to power on the basis of development works undertaken during the five years of his government.

"We have to work really hard for next five months to publicise the works done during the last five years of the government to the people..(if we do so) we will get another five years," Yadav said after flagging off "Mulayam Sandesh Yatra' for the upcoming polls at the party headquarters here.

19-year-old dies of dengue

Saharanpur (UP): A 19-year-old youth from Uttar Pradesh died of dengue in Maulana Medical College in Haryana, police said today.

After free laptops, Akhilesh government to distribute smart phones

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday announced that his government would soon begin the 'Samajwadi Smartphone Scheme' "for benefit of all sections of the society".

He also added that by rolling out world's largest free laptop distribution scheme, the Samajwadi Partygovernment had ushered in "Digital Democracy" in the state and express hope that the new and ambitious scheme will enable two-way communication between the people and the state government.


The chief minister stated said that this would be helpful in spreading awareness among the people of various policies and schemes and that people's feedback would also reach the state government.

KHNADWA GOVT NEWS:योजना का समय पर लाभ न देने पर हरसूद बी.एम.ओ. को कारण बताओ नोटिस

खण्डवा 5 सितम्बर 2016 - लोक सेवा गारंटी अधिनियम 2010 के तहत नागरिकों को चिन्हित सेवाएं समय सीमा में उपलब्ध कराने की गारंटी प्रदेष सरकार ने दी हैं। इस अधिनियम के तहत जो अधिकारी नागरिकों को समय सीमा में सेवाएं उपलब्ध नहीं कराते हैं, उन्हें 250 रूपये प्रतिदिन के मान से अर्थदण्ड से दण्डित किये जाने का प्रावधान भी इस अधिनियम में किया गया हैं। उल्लेखनीय हैं कि हरसूद के विकासखण्ड चिकित्सा अधिकारी श्री महेष जैन ने ग्राम भराडी रैयत निवासी नेकराम को प्रसूति सहायता योजना का लाभ देने में देरी की, जिस पर कलेक्टर श्रीमती स्वाति मीणा नायक ने बी.एम.ओ. डॉ. जैन को कारण बताओ नोटिस जारी कर 2 दिवस में जवाब चाहा हैं। जवाब संतोषप्रद न पाये जाने की स्थिति में डॉ. जैन पर अधिनियम के तहत अर्थदण्ड आरोपित किया जायेगा।

Kashmir Valley remains shut for 58th day

Authorities made heavy security deployment in Srinagar and other places of the Kashmir Valley Monday to maintain law and order.

"Deployments were made in sufficient strength to maintain law and order in the Valley. There will be no curfew anywhere today (Monday)," a senior police official said.

Kerala Catholics celebrate as Mother Teresa becomes Saint

Catholics in Keral acelebrated on Sunday as Mother Teresa was elevated as a Saint of the Catholic Church.

Currently Catholics here have three native saints Kuriakose Elias Chavara, popularly known as Chavara Achen, and Sister Euphrasia, popularly known as Evuprasiamma (both canonised in 2014) while Sister Alphonsa in 2008 became the first native Indian to be canonised.


Even though not an Indian by birth but citizenship, Mother Teresa was hugely popular in Keralaand on a few occasions, she had visited the state as part of the work of Missionaries of Charity, which she had set up.
