Odisha's Titlagarh recorded 48.5degrees Celsius while Baleshwar recorded 42 degrees Celsius.
The authorities have adviced the people to avoid venturing outdoors during the afternoons, and schedule their work for early morning or late evenings.
Last week, 13 places, including Talcher, Bhawanipatna, Malkangiri and Bolangir, recorded temperature above 40 degrees.
Meanwhile, the death toll due to intense heat in Telangana had touched 49.
Following the High Court's instructions earlier to take all out measures to prevent sunstroke deaths, Telangana Government stepped up its efforts to create awareness among people on preventive measures to be taken to safeguard themselves against heat wave and sunstroke deaths.
Last month, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that temperatures between April and June were going to be warmer than usual. The worst-hit states have been Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand.
