Microsoft seeks to empower every Indian: Satya Nadella

Microsoft top boss Satya Nadella on his third visit to India reiterated how the tech giant can help the country in its Digital India initiative and build technology around augmented reality and virtual reality.

Starting with a couplet written by Mirza Ghalib, Nadella mentioned his love for poetry and computer science and said that, the creativity in India can make poetry as well as technology for the world.

Nadella who met a number of app developers, robotics expert said this at the 'Technology for good, Ideas for India' conference organised by Microsoft. He added that India has lot of talent that can empower every person and every organisation in the country and Microsoft would help those people.


Also at the event was Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha who in a presentation said that his government is pro poor but pro market as well.

"India can be an entrepreneurship engine. Innovate in India for the world. We are a pro poor government but we want markets to flourish here as well," Sinha said.

Nadella also spoke about how virtual reality can be used in daily lives for ease of doing things. On the usage of robots, he said that Bots can help on ease of doing things. He gave examples of different ways bots can help in daily activities and help people with various disabilities.
The company said that it is working with app developers to build solutions around healthcare, fashion, governance among others.

This is the second high profile visit of a global technology giant this month after Apple CEO Tim Cook visited India almost a week back when he also talked about how India can help innovate next big things in the areas of technology. Both of them have offered support to push various projects under the NDA government's Digital India initiative.
