Google unveils SD card support, Wi-Fi only mode for Maps

In addition to saving an area of Maps for offline use later, users with Android device that supports SD cards can save downloaded maps to an external SD card (if the device supports them) and free up storage space for storing other stuff.

Google's kids' map app lets them explore Himalayas in 3D

Technology giant Google has released a new application specially designed for children to let them explore the Himalayas using maps, 3D imagery and gameplay, a media report said.

Called "Verne: The Himalayas", the app introduces the character Verne, who is a friendly, 500-foot Yeti children can use to move around the map scenes.

Khandwa news धार्मिक अनुष्ठान में तीन करोड़ 29 लाख मंत्र का जप

खंडवा(नि.प्र.)। महादेवगढ़ कुंडलेश्वर महादेव मंदिर में चल रहे अखंड़ ओम नम: शिवाय जप एवं रूद्राक्ष महाभिषेक के तहत 12वें दिन तीन करोड़ 29 लाख मंत्रों का जप शिवभक्तों द्वारा किया गया। इस अवसर पर संत माधवदासजी महाराज ने कहा कि शिव पुराण में वर्णन है कि जिस शिव स्थान पर 7 करोड़ 25 लाख ओम नम: शिवाय मंत्र के जाप होते हैं उस स्थान पर साक्षात शिव मां पार्वती के साथ दर्शन देते हैं। वह स्थान बड़ा सिद्ध एवं मनोकामनापूर्ण करने व कष्ट हरने वाला बन जाता है।

GSMA launches Mobile Connect in India

The global telecom body GSMA on Tuesday launched its mobile-based authentication solution, Mobile Connect, in India.

"India is already the world's second-largest mobile market and as the country enters a new phase of mobile industry growth that will unlock far-reaching social and economic benefits, it is critical that consumer security is ensured at all times," said Mats Granryd, Director General, GSMA.

SC pulls up Google, Yahoo for hosting pre-natal sex determination sites

The Supreme Court on Tuesday slammed search engines Google, Microsoft and Yahoo for showing sex determination contents on its websites and called on the Centre to come up with a memorandum to stop the 'abuse'.

The Apex Court also directed the government to hold a meeting with the major search engines and petitioners in the case.

Asserting that the Centre must immediately come up with a memorandum in the matter, the Supreme Court will hear the matter again on July 25.

Plastic surgeons give Google Glass thumbs up

Even as Google Glass undergoes a "comprehensive redesign", plastic surgeons see some clear advantages of using the eye wearable device in the operating room, reports a study.


The surgeons who used used Glass for various cosmetic and reconstructive surgery procedures, in general, gave the device high ratings for comfort and overall satisfaction, the study said.

Introduced in 2013, Glass is a hands-free, head-mounted computerised device that can present information to the wearer and enable recording and sharing of photos and video.

"Despite some identified weaknesses, Google Glass is a unique technology with a promising plastic surgical application in the operating room," according to the new research by Jeremy Sinkin of Georgetown University Hospital and colleagues.

Google may launch its own handset to take on Apple

In an apparent move to take on Apple's dominance in the lucrative high-end smartphone market, search engine giant Google may release its own brand of handset by the end of this year, according to a media report.

The technology giant is in discussions with mobile operators about releasing a Google-branded phone, the Telegraph reported on Sunday, citing sources familiar with the discussions.

Known for its internet software, the tech giant in recent years has taken steps into hardware by releasing its own tablet computer, laptops and other gadgets.

एक बच्ची जिसे जन्म के बाद मां ने कांटों में फेंक दिया, मरने के लिए...। तलाकशुदा नर्स दूसरी मां बनी। आठ साल तक पाल पोसकर बड़ा किया। अच्छे स्कूल में एडमिशन करवाया। अचानक एक दिन नर्स के प्रेमी ने सुपारी देकर उसे मरवा दिया। इस मासूम बच्ची को कांटों से पटी खंती में फेंक दिया, फिर वापस मरने के लिए...। तड़पने के लिए, लेकिन यह बच्ची मरी नहीं, जिंदा रही, पुलिस को बुलाया, हत्यारों का हुलिया बताया, गिरफ्तार कराया। अब इन्हें कोर्ट ने 24 जून 2016 को इसी बेटी की गवाही पर उम्रकैद की सजा सुनाई है।

IBM patents Google Glass-like night vision eyewear

US tech giant IBM has patented an eye wear like Google Glass that will have red-eyed night vision capabilities, a media report said.
Although not promising a true night vision, the device is described in the patent to improve sight under low light by tricking the brain to focus on high contrast imagery.

"IBM's Google Glass modifications include a sensor and 'a comparator device' designed to detect and contrast light intensity. When the light intensity drops below a set level, a pair of projectors -- one for each eye -- bathe the user's eyes in red light," a report in International Business Times (UK) said.

Search engine does not favour Hillary Clinton or any other candidate, clarifies Google

Internet giant Google has clarified on reports that its search engine has been altered to help Hillary Clinton win the 2016 presidential elections in the United States.

Google said that its search engine is neither programmed to help Hillary Clinton nor any other candidate.

"Google autocomplete does not favour any candidate or cause," a Google spokesperson said in a statement.

Google yet to build smartphones on its own: Sundar Pichai

Software giant Google has no plans to do its own smartphone as of now and will continue to work with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) on building Nexus devices, Indian-born top executive Sundar Pichai has said.

Addressing a packed 'Code Conference' in California on Wednesday, Pichai said that "our plan is still to work with hardware partners".

"Nexus, we are investing more effort into them. You'll see us put more thought into Nexus devices, there are categories beyond phones, we'll be opinionated where we need to be to push the category forward," he added.

Google beats Oracle in USD nine billion copyright battle

In a major breather for Google, a U.S. jury gave a verdict in favour of the internet giant in a long-running copyright battle with Oracle Corp over Android software being used to run most of the world's smartphones.

The jury unanimously upheld the claims made by Google that its use of Oracle's Java development platform to create Android was protected under the fair-use provision of copyright law, Reuters reported.

Sundar Pichai unveils 'Google Assistant', 'Google Home' at I/O conference

Internet giant Google's Chief Executive Sundar Pichai has announced several new features like 'Google Assistant', 'Google Home', a new messaging app called 'Allo' and video calling feature 'Duo' at the ongoing I/O (input/output and 'Innovation in the Open') conference in Mountain View, California.

'Google Assistant' helps one with performing daily tasks like booking movie tickets and 'Google Home' is a voice-activated product that lets users enjoy entertainment, manage everyday tasks and get answers from Google.

Google faces three billion euro fine for promoting its shopping services

 Internet giant Google faces a record anti-trust fine of around three billion euros(USD 3.4 billion) for promoting its shopping service in Internet searches at the expense of rival services.

According to British newspaper The Sunday Telegraph, Google will also be banned from continuing to manipulate search results to favour itself and harm rivals.

The Commission can fine firms up to 10 percent of their annual sales, which in Google's case would be a maximum possible sanction of more than six billion euros, report Reuters.

The biggest antitrust fine till date was a 1.1 billion-euro fine imposed on chip-maker Intel in 2009.

Wi-Fi service at Vijayawada, Kachiguda, Raipur rail stations

Expanding the high speed Internet network facility, the Railways will launch the Google's free Wi-Fi service at Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada, Hyderabad's Kachiguda and Chhattisgarh's Raipur stations on Thursday.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will launch the facility through video conferencing from Rail Bhawan in New Delhi.

Last month, Wi-Fi service was launched at the Bhubaneswar station.

Designed to offer passengers the best internet experience, Wi-Fi will be available to any user who has a smart phone.

Under the 'Digital India initiative', the Railways is committed to provide better internet facilities to the passengers at 100 busiest stations by the end of this year.

Now Google Calendar to 'Find Time' for your office meetings

With Google's free online calendar, it is easy to keep track of life's important events all in one place. But what if the Google Calendar also fixes time for your office meetings.

Yes, the American tech giant has announced a new feature, 'Find a Time', which examines the schedules and suggests times when everyone is free for meetings and get-togethers.

The Android app would examine the schedules of everyone you want to attend an office meeting and pick out a window where everyone's free, the Verge reports.

Google Calendar is a time-management web application and mobile app created by Google. It became available on April 13, 2006, and exited the beta stage in July 2009. Users are required to have a Google Account in order to use the app.

Google updates its Gmail app for Android

Search engine Google has updated its Gmail app for Android to support Microsoft Exchange email accounts on all devices.

Google has supported third-party email providers like Yahoo, Outlook, and Hotmail in its Android mobile app.

Gmail has now well-rounded email option for Android users with the new update, the Verge reports.

"All your mail in one place. An update to the Android Gmail app is now rolling out with support for Exchange accounts," Google said in a tweet.
